A. Although the timing of performance appraisals varies significantly, generally appraisals are conducted once a year. According to a recent MSEC survey, nearly one-third of employers conduct appraisals once a year on the employee’s anniversary date. One-half conduct appraisals annually at a focal point, i.e., calendar or budget cycle, designated by the organization. On the other hand, frequent and ongoing performance feedback is more effective in helping employees improve their performance.
