Coming Together to Serve Our Members, Mountain States Employers Council and Utah’s Employers Council Merge
Utah, Colorado, and Arizona have much in common. From worldclass skiing to natural beauty and abundant sunshine, these states share the best features of our unique and wonderful region. As of October 1, 2015, we also share an employers association devoted to supporting our members in every facet of human resources.
As you may have heard by now, Salt Lake City-based Employers Council (EC) joined Mountain States Employers Council (MSEC) to strengthen the capabilities of both organizations. Combined, the two organizations serve more than 3,800 employers with some 220,000 employees throughout Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and much of the intermountain west.
The organizations’ two leaders, Mike Severns and Monica Whalen, are united in the desire to be a membercentric organization supporting any private, nonprofit, or public-sector employer in all aspects of human capital management. For more than 75 years, MSEC has partnered with members to be a cost-effective solution in employee training and development, wage and salary surveys, human resource consultation, and employment law.
Mike Severns, MSEC President and CEO, offered this in an interview with the Denver Business Journal in September: “Combining and maximizing the strengths of both associations offers a tremendous advantage to our members and enables us to be a stronger and more knowledgeable partner as we remain committed to our local business communities.”
One of the very best parts of this new relationship is the staff involved. From MSEC’s top leaders, to the boards governing the transition, to the staff that serves members, the cultural fit has been tight. Over the next few months, our members will get to know even more top-notch HR thought leaders.
We are so excited for this opportunity to better serve our members.
